The Osher Map Library and Smith Center for Cartographic Education's new exhibit chronicles the changes the city of Portland has undergone over the last two centuries.

"The Changing Peninsula: Two Centuries of Portland Maps and City Views" runs through July 31 and was curated by Earl Shettleworth Jr., director of the Maine Historic Preservation Commission.

The exhibit's historic images of Portland are from prints, plates, newspapers and maps.

The free exhibit is open from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Go to www.usm.maine. edu/maps or call 780-4850 for more information.

The library is on the ground floor of the University of Southern Maine's Glickman Family Library on Forest Avenue in Portland.
