My Best High School Moments
Today I was reminiscing about the best things I did in my high school days. Some of this isn't music-related, but I just wanted to share this with everyone since I think my high school contributions were fairly unique.
High school moment #1
I ran for Class Sorcerer.
Yes, that's right. In my junior year, I wanted to join the student government, and I wanted to do something different and against the grain for once...so I ran for class sorcerer! I got a student government petition, got 25 signatures, made a speech to my entire class about my magical goodness, and got elected.

He Hit Me (and it felt like a kiss)
Older folks may recognize that name as the famous Phil Spector song performed by The Crystals, but I discovered it in a new and exciting form, performed by Brooklyn-based indie-folk band Grizzly Bear.
Grizzly Bear has been the subject of my obsession this week, and while I do not own any of their albums yet, I've managed to find various free and legal MP3s floating around the web. I fell in love with them when I saw them open for The New Pornographers in Northampton back in August. Their music is beautiful, haunting, and harmonious, and they treat each song with various subtleties and nuances, often creating song dynamics that flood the brain with pure musical bliss.
Anyhow, one of the providing websites was Daytrotter, a website that features live recordings from a multitude of bands and artists of national and international appeal, and all of the live recordings are released as free MP3s.
