Back in September, Justin Ellis wrote about two college-bound, to-be roommates meeting each other on Facebook before moving in together. I have a similar story to share, and it involves a girl who lives down the hall from the two mentioned in Justin's story. This story is about how I met her (and yes, it does involve music).
It was the summer, and I was single and college-bound. It was a very exciting state to be in. There were a lot of new possibilities open for me, and I had no idea what to expect, but I was thrilled nevertheless.
In my excitement, I joined a group on Facebook for upcoming Freshmen at the University of Southern Maine. I started to befriend people within the group, hoping to build new friendships for the school year and beyond. Out of all the people I befriended on Facebook, there was one girl who stood out from the rest.
Amazing cover of U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday"
The cover is featured on rap/spoken-word artist Saul Williams' new album, The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust. You can listen to his cover of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" on his Myspace.
If you like what you hear, you can purchase his album for $5 or free of charge (your choice) on the NiggyTardust website. This is good stuff! Enjoy!
The Decemberists tour canceled due to ill band member
Not much of a post for today. I was going to see The Decemberists last night, but they just canceled the entire tour due to a band member falling ill. That was my second failed attempt at going to a Decemberists show. I'm glad they decided to stop touring before the band member became too ill, but man, I want to see them so bad. Well, maybe next time. That is all.
