You wouldn't think of an Italian-American restaurant is the best place for fried clams, in Maine. But that's one of the great things about the Village Cafe on Newbury Street, it's one of those great, old-fashioned eateries that has something for everyone. It opened in 1936, before restaurants were shrunk down to micro-niches, like "Asian-Franco fusion" or "new American poultry-based cuisine." By Ray Routhier | ||
