The amazing thing about Fore Street is that it's just one of several great Portland eateries Dana Street has a hand in, including: Street& Company (known for fancy fish dishes); Scales at the Portland Public Market (known for simpler fish dishes); and Standard Baking, known appropriately enough, for baked goods. In 2004, Fore Street's chef and co-owner, Sam Hayward, won a James Beard Foundation Award as "best chef" in the Northeast. By Ray Routhier
