AUDIENCE POLL: Best Lobster Roll
By RAY ROUTHIER, Staff Writer Portland Press Herald Sunday, March 18, 2007

Lobster Shack, Cape Elizabeth 141 Red's Eats, Wiscasset 112 The Lobster Shack has the best view in the world, in our humble opinion, out there near Two Lights State Park. You sit on picnic tables and watch surf crash into the rocks, a very dramatic scene. Red's is in picturesque Wiscasset, on the Sheepscot River, which also is nice. As far as the rolls themselves, they're both pretty simple: grilled hot dog roll, filled with lobster meat, no dressing to speak of. The Lobster Shack includes a little lettuce and paprika, and a dollop of mayonnaise that is easily removed. Red's is basically just meat, with mayo or butter on the side. If you go to Red's, a fairly small roadside stand with a huge reputation, prepare for long lines in season.

We used to live here and still return every summer. If we only go out to eat at one place it is The Lobster Shack. There are great restaurants lots of places. But there is only one with with the food and view of The Lobster Shack.report abuse
