Becky's Diner, Portland 79
Granny's Burritos, Portland 77
Another close one. Becky's owner, Becky Rand, prides herself on running a diner where the elderly, teenagers and other folks without a ton of money in their pocket can get a good meal. You can get pretty filled up on $5 at Becky's. The place is on Commercial Street and is scheduled this year to undergo an expansion, including an outdoor deck. Granny's, home of giant and wonderfully fresh-tasting burritos on Fore Street, will also fill you up for about $5. People in Maine take their cheap eats seriously, and there were a lot of vote-getters this year, including: Duckfat, Silly's, Norm's and Susan's Fish & Chips in Portland; Cole Farms in Gray; Rapid Ray's in Saco; Harmon's Lunch in Falmouth; and Fat Boy in Brunswick.
