your RO24 lineup:
The Blue Stream Band
[Sanford HS]
Aaron Labbe, Drums; Tony Labbe, Bass; Atticus Lazenby, Alto Sax; Alex Robinson, Guitar; Michael Stanley, Keyboards
Since its creation in November 2007, The Blue Stream Band has been busy producing material for the their first album. They have performed at their high school battle of the bands and at the Sanford-Springvale Expression of the Arts. The delta of The Blue Stream Band is an amalgamation of blues, jazz, rock, funk and musical determination more ancient than a river's course to the sea. Who knows where the mouth of The Blue Stream Band will empty.

um, I don't really know what you guys are thinking when you say "original", but as far as my knowledge of the word, this band is far from that. They are using very basic blues chord progressions (Gm7,Cm7,Dm7-12 bar minor blues, hence the title), that are more or less foundational systems. I am also appalled that this Big John has linked them to Steve Vai, actually, it seemed like he just listed off a bunch of random guitarists with little or nothing in common, both as soloists and composers. Don't get me wrong though, they are very adept and talented musicians-particularly the guitarist. But they are certainly not original, it seems they more or less took their Jazz band music and attempted to pass it off as their own. They also don't seem to know how to close a song.

Brilliant! A rich, round sound from a great combination of instruments. Written with talent and played with skill. I will buy their album when it's released.report abuseLazoon

Stevie Ray Vaughan, Hendrix, David Gilmour, Buchanon, Taylor, Blackmore, Beck, Vai, Eric Gales, B.B. King and so on. These guys are just starting out, but if they can continue to work together, grow and be creative - they could reach that level of greatness. All the ingredients are right there. Dynamic rhythm section, solid keyboards, sweet sax, and fluid guitar work that's not afraid to play clean! Keep it up guys!Let's see now just how well it all mixes together over time. I'd keep a close eye on these guys. They have the potential rock the house. I want backstage passes in a year or two!

I find The Blue Stream Band refreshing. Truly an inspiring blend of blues, rock, funk, jazz and a bit of originality in their music. I hear a young band who, if they remain together; over time - will have nailed it. It is very cool to see local young musicians who have not only remember their roots but are actually exploring them. It is that type of insight that has help create the greats.
