Strike of “The Sound of Music”
Sunday night was the strike of the set of “The Sound of Music”, which ran for four weekends. After the show, the two casts of children greeted each other with squeals and hugs, since they had rarely seen one another once rehearsals split into one cast one night, the other the next. The exception were Cast A watching Sunday's Cast B and Cast B coming to see Cast A’s performance on Saturday night. Cast B was able to watch from the front two rows.
The set started coming down before all the cast had come back from seeing family and friends in the lobby. Props were brought up to the prop room, costumes were sorted, the dressing room cleared of personal items and cleaned. While much of the set dismantling was happening on stage, the kids all gathered in the lobby for work first – erasing scripts – then fun and games. The cast and crew wore some holiday-themed shirts and sweaters for strike, as their show sweatshirts were distributed after at the cast party. Once the set was down and everything put away, dinner was in the lobby and the cast presented gifts to the production staff. The theater will not be idle for the holidays, Sweet Charity principles are coming in starting this week for rehearsals.
