Madeline is a bit of a dare devil who usually manages to get off without too many scrapes. When she tumbles off the bridge into the river, a brave dog rescues her and becomes her best friend. The Children's Theatre of Maine produces the musical "Madeline's Rescue," based on the book by Ludwig Bemelmans. The show runs Wednesday through Aug. 4. Call 828-0617 for tickets. Tickets are $10, $8 for children under age 18 and for seniors.

Pompadoured rock star Conrad Birdie is about to be drafted into the military. For his last public performance, he's going to plant "One Last Kiss" on an all-American girl from a small town in Ohio.
