Nevermind, found it
So I quickly wrapped up yesterday's blog before heading over to a friends for dinner last night. One of the things that I threw out there in yesterday's posting was that I'd been away and had anyone seen any signs of the arrival Gritty's Scottish Ale yet (and threw out a little comparison between GSA and a cowbell).
Well, nevermind - I found it.
Upon arriving last night, my friend and host said - Shipyard Winter or Gritty's Scottish? I hugged him.
Prost,
Scott Dutton

Hey Scott, for us newbies -- tell me about Gritty's Scottish? What rings your chimes about it?

I have seen no Gritty's Scotish anywhere....I was at same dinner party and was offered Stella but no mention of Scottie Ales...
Well hopefully at this week's poker game the Scotish Ales will be flowing like wine...

So, What er ye wearin' under thaht kilt?
A six-pack of GSA and you'll be hearing bagpipes, alright. That stuff packs a wallop; must be closing in on 7% alcohol. Damn! Keep it away from open flames.
Geary's Hampshire Special Ale, I was surprised to learn, is a tad over 7%, if I remember correctly, which explains a lot of things that happened last summer.....

DC - Well, mostly I just really like it. For me, it's the perfect blend of maltiness and hoppiness. It's robust and dark enough to fulfill the seasonal requirement, and feel good on a cold winter's day w/out being too strong tasting. i.e. it's got a high enough alcohol percentage, without tasting so.
And I'm partly just beating the topic to death as a goof, and in support of one of my favorite local brews.

Methinks I shall read this blog every Friday, as a gift to myself.
Note to file: earlier this week I was at an event that ended up in Hallowell, just down the road a bit from the Capitol Building in Augusta. We took a table at a place called "The Liberal Cup", which, turns out, is a brew pub. Never been there, never heard of it, and if you happen to be politically conservative, don't let the name turn you away. Liberal in this case means "filled to the very top". I ordered the "Smelt Camp Strong Ale", and I am here to tell you it was bitchin'. Couldn't resist given the name of the ale, but the actual contents was exceptional. Plus, the pub itself is a very hardwoody, rustic kind of place where the staff is friendly and the temp is comfortably warm but not stuffy. So. If you get a chance, if you happen to be in the neighborhood (right on the main street, which might be called "Main Street", I'm not certain), check it out.
